Terry ClanceyTerry enjoys a wonderful reputation for training top quality cutting, reining and working cow horses and we feel she is great addition to the ranch.
We are very excited to announce that Terry Clancey has brought her training operation to the Double Bar M Ranch. Terry was raised in Bishop, CA and began her career in 1984 starting and grooming two year old Quarter horses for the track. She worked at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, CA from 1985 thru 1988 training ranch horses and handling stallions for breeding. During the next three years, she worked in Santa Ynez starting Thoroughbreds for the track. She also trained and sold Hunter/Jumpers. From 1991 through 1993, she was the onsite trainer and manager for Camden Farms in Malibu, training and selling Hunter/Jumpers and Dressage horses. She was responsible for breeding and foaling out the broodmares. She was an independent trainer at Millpond Equestrian Center in Bishop from 1993 to 2005 and has been training and showing Reined Cow Horses since 1999. Terry feels that her diverse background has prepared her for the passion and excitement of the cow horse industry. The race track taught her about fitness and leg injuries while jumping and dressage showed her the importance of fluid partnerships. After showing her first cow horse, she was hooked. She loves watching them grow and mature into successful competitors. Winning her first futurity was very exciting because it was the reward for the long process of getting a young horse ready to show. Terry loves to teach riding skills. She says that if she can get the rider to be consistent, the horse will follow. She has brought her handsome stallion “Montaboy”, a 1998 bay QH stallion that she rode to win the 2003 NRC & CHA Open Hackamore Championship. That year, he also won the 2003 NCRCHA Top Five Cutting horse and was the Open Junior Champion. “Montaboy” won the 2002 Fallon Stock Horse Maturity and was the Hi-Score Reining Horse in that event. In addition, he is the 2002 NRC & CHA Reserve Snaffle Bit Champion. In 2001, he won the Nevada Open Futurity and was the Winnemucca Stock Horse Futurity Champion. Terry also won the 2003 NRCHA Top Ten Limited Open Bridle riding “Good Friday Freckles” and went on to place 8th at the 2003 NRCHA Limited Open Bridle World Show. In addition to training and showing reining, cutting and working cow horses, Terry is available for riding instruction and problem solving with all horses at the Double Bar M Ranch. She is presently holding clinics on various aspects of training and riding. Her stallion, “Montaboy”, is available for breeding prospects. Terry enjoys an excellent reputation for training top quality cutting, reining and working cow horses and is a great enhancement for the ranch. She is a wonderful compliment to the operation of Amy Jo Tolson and a welcomed addition to the western cow horse trainers in Sonoma County.
